History and technical features 

he F90 is a 35mm autofocus SLR released from Nikon in 1992. It is also known as the N90 in America. It has a similar body design to F-801s / N8008s. An improved version was released in 1994 as the F90X or N90s in America.

The shutter is an electromagnetically controlled vertical travelling focal-plane shutter with speeds of 30 sec to 1/8000 sec. B mode. Metering modes include, matrix, center-weighted averaging and spot. The exposure meter has a range of -1 to 21 EV for matrix and center-weighted and 3 to 21 for spot mode. Exposure modes include program auto, veri-program, shutter priority, aperture-priority and metered manual exposure mode. A exposure compensation feature is also available with a range of ±5 EV in 1/3 stop.

The X-sync in Program and Aperture mode is from 1/60 to 1/250 sec. or in 30 sec to 1/250 in slow sync mode. In shutter priority and manual modes the sync is equivalent to the shutter speed, with 1/250 for speeds 1/250 to 1/8000.

It is capable is using DX coded film with a range of 25 to 5000 ISO or in manual mode of 6 to 6400 ISO. The motorized film transport is able to travel at up to 3.6 fps. Film loading is automatic and advances to the first frame by pressing the shutter release. The film counter is upwards counting but also counts downwards when rewinding film. It is powered by 4x 1.5 V AA batteries loaded into the handgrip area.

The Nikon F90 (known as the N90 in the United States) is a 35mm SLR camera manufactured between 1992 and 2001 and replaced the earlier Nikon F-801 (N8008 in the U.S.). At the time of its release it was noted for its fast autofocus speed compared to previous Nikon models, which had lagged behind competitor Canon's. It was thus seen by many as a 'stop-gap' measure to prevent the mass migration of many Nikon-using professional photographers to Canon, as Nikon's next fully professional camera, the F5, was some time away from release. The Nikon F4, the professional model available at the time of the F90's release, had very slow autofocus compared to Canon's autofocus SLRs.

The Nikon F90's autofocus system was driven by a small 'peanut' motor in the camera body that drove the lens via a mechanical link, unlike Canon's autofocus system, which used motors built into each lens. It was also the first Nikon SLR to interoperate with the first generation of Nikkor lenses featuring internal focusing motor.

Despite not being intended for the professional market, the Nikon F90 and its upgrade, the F90x, were built to a high standard and were (and are still) used by many professionals.

However, many F90 and F90x bodies had problems with the rubberized back, where the rubberized coating would start peeling or turn into a sticky mess. The rubber around the grip and other parts were not affected. This did not affect the functionality of the back but was a nuisance to users. The rubberised coating can however be removed (Once the door has been unclipped and safely removed from the camera body) by rubbing gently with a microfibre towel or similar soaked in plenty of Isopropyl Alcohol. This procedure will remove the rubberised top coating without affecting the surface finish of the underlying plastic or the clear film viewing window. The white printed "Vari Program" icons will remain unaffected also. The end result is a hard semi-gloss finish the same as the camera's top plate.

History and technical features 

The Dynax 303si is a autofocus 35mm SLR film camera manufactured by Minolta and introduced in 1999. It is also known as the α-360si (Alpha 360si) as well as the Maxxum QTsi.

The electronically controlled vertical travelling focal-plane shutter has speed of 30s to 1/2000 of a sec. with a flash sync of 1/90. The program exposure mode contains 5 separate modes including portrait, landscape, clo
se-up, sport and night portrait. The metering is TTL based on a silicon photo cell with a range of 4 to 20 EV (ISO 100, f/1.4). It can use DX encoded films with speeds of 25 to 5000 ISO. Non-DX films will use the previous films ISO setting. A electronic self-timer mode is available with a delay of 10 seconds.

The film transport is motorized with film advance settings of single or a continuous drive speed of up to 1fps. Rewinding the film is automatic at the end of the roll, but a manual rewind is also possible before the end of the roll. The built-in flash has a GN of 12. Flash modes include auto, auto red eye, fill flash, fill flash red eye, and flash off. An AF illumiator is also on the flash, that enables more precise focusing in darker conditions. The camera is powered by two CR2 battery.

Two years after debut of the highly successful original EOS 1000F/Rebel. Canon introduced the EOS-1000QD/Rebel II in April, 1992. The Company adopted the same philosophy of the predecessor with two separate models in either a choice of basic body or one with a built-in flash version. Similarly, two separate designations were used for US (Rebel II (QD) & Rebel S II (QD) and other markets (EOS-1000N & EOS-1000FN). Apparently, some great features found in earlier EOS-10s & EOS-100/Elan QD was deployed in this second generation Rebel where a silent film advance and rewind mechanism was used in its design (the noise reduction for film advance has significantly improved by approx. 40% and 35% in rewinding but infrared system used in EOS-10S was not used). Wel, the silent waves camera operation in some of these EOS bodies also work efficiently with the emergence of the second generation of micro-USM lenses. That is not all it has to offer, an improved AF performance and microcomputer of the camera has improved AF speed 50% faster than any of the earlier EOS-1000/Rebel QD models. Well, generally, I used to separate the original and second series via its new vertical-travel, focal-plane electronic shutter, which has an extended shutter speed range from 30 sec. to 1/2000 now (the original rebel has 1/000 top speed, but the sync speed of both series are still limiting to rather disappointing 1/90 sec). Another improvement is the incorporation of a popular redeye prevention system with the 1000FN/Rebel SII QD models.
Other notable improvements over previous models are a slightly more powerful (GNO 14 as compared with 12) flash output for the built in flash for applicable models and a built-in soft focus mode. Errr ... there is also a choice of music selections (with beeper and selectable musical melodies by Vivaldi, Beethoven and Bach) when self-timer is activated during count down. In the case of the soft focus mode (similar to Minolta's soft focus program card), it is not running optically (you can use an EF lens with similar effect) but on both the EOS-1000FN/Rebel SII QD, It works by taking two images on the same film frame in rapid succession, shooting one sharp and then defocusing the lens for the second one (the ratio can be adjusted in 1:1 and 1:2). However, one discomforting part in the design of the camera is still centered around the black EF reinforced plastic lense bayonet mount. Although the camera is primarily designed for mass amateur users, where presumably owners may not always be frequently changing lenses, but the cleverly stealth black lense bayonet mount is one area that might raise some doubt over durability issue. The metering and exposure control modes provide is extensive enough for anyone to make good use of them for tackling any photographic situations. The camera has a flexible exposure control in shutter priority AE, aperture priority AE, intelligent program AE, four PIC image Modes, depth-of-field priority AE TTL, A-TTL flash program AE and metered manual via the use of a composite 6-zone SPC photosensor, provides fail-safe evaluative metering, and center partial metering for tricky lighting metering.
Other secondary control includes ±2-step exposure compensation (in 1/2-step increments) and a more conveniently to use AE-Lock. One advantage of the upgrade to this popular EOS body is, since most of the controls are designed and located almost the same manner with many other Canon, user may easily get accustomed to this camera. Although it is not exactly a high-end spec EOS SLR, but it serves its purpose well to provide a good, reasonably well finished camera body to tab into the huge EOS photographic system.

Remarks:

* Probably the first of the EOS bodies that produced outside Japan (Canon's plant in Taiwan).
* These cameras are quiet versions of the earlier EOS-1000, and features new functions such as soft-focus mode and musical self-timer.

* Built-in flash: Manual retractable, redeye reduction mode, with automatic firing mode (when necessary), GNO 14 (ISO100, m) (1000S QD, 1000FN/1000FN QD, 1000 QD-P) However, note that only forced firing is possible on REBEL SII/ REBEL SII QD. The EOS-1000N and REBEL II/REBEL II QD do not have a built-in flash.

* QD models are provided with five imprint date items (including imprint OFF).

History and technical features 

The F50, sold as the N50 in the United States, was an entry-level 35mm film Single-lens reflex camera which was introduced by Nikon in 1994. It was aimed at the lower-end of the amateur autofocus SLR market.

The F50 features autofocus, through-the-lens light metering and various "programs" (ranging from manual operation to a highly-automated point and shoot mode). A variant known as the F50D / N50D, which added a date/time-imprinting facility and also panoramic mode. The F50 body was made from polycarbonate and metal, and available in both "champagne silver" and black. It is similar to Nikon's other consumer film SLRs from its era, giving the usual P/S/A/M modes. Notable omissions include depth-of-field preview and any form of remote shutter release

The F50 was replaced by the similarly-priced F60/N60 in 1998.

he Nikon F-601, otherwise known as the Nikon N6006, is a 35mm single-lens reflex (SLR) film camera that was produced by Nikon starting in 1991. The F601 featured an improved second-generation autofocus system, motor drive for automatic film advance, a built-in pop-up electronic flash, a top shutter speed of 1/2000 of a second, and a new "Matrix" evaluative multi-zone metering program.

The camera includes an integrated motor drive and is also available in a version with a date back, which could be set to print the date and time on the photo film as images were acquired. As a kit, the F601 shipped with a 35-to-70 mm autofocus Nikkor zoom lens. It is compatible with a wide range of Nikon F-mount lenses, including both autofocus and manual focus types.

During the 1990s, the F-601 sat between the Nikon F-401 and Nikon F-801s in the company's consumer SLR range.

The F-601 is a autofocus 35mm film SLR, announced in the fall of 1990 by Nikon. It is also known as the N6006 in the US. It accepts Nikon F mount lenses.
It uses a electromagnetically controlled focal plane shutter with speeds from 30s to 1/2000 with a battery powered B mode. Flash sync is at a maximum of 1/125 a sec. The self-timer is electronic and can be set in 1 sec increments from 2 to 30 sec. A two shot mode is also possible with a 10 second delay for the first shot and 5 sec for the second. It features three metering systems; matrix metering, center-weighted, and spot. Program modes include P, PM, S, A and M modes. The meter has a range of 0 to 19 EV at (ASA 100, f/1.4), settable to film speeds from 25 to 5000 ISO for DX encoded film but can also be manually set from 6 to 6400 ISO. The camera contains a built-in TTL flash with a GN of 13 and can be used in auto and fill-flash modes. The flash head can be released by pressing the release buttons on both sides of the prism housing. The film transport is motorized. It supports automatic first frame film loading, and can be advanced in S (Single), CH (Continuous High, 2fps) or CL (Continuous Low, 1.2fps) modes. It uses a single 6v CRP2 battery. Date back versions also use a CR2025 battery.
A variation was released as the F-601M or N6000 in the US. This model is a simplified version which removes autofocus as well as the built-in TTL flash.
