History and technical features 

Manufactured since 2007, the Diana+ is a replica camera produced by Lomography in an attempt rekindle people's love for the original Diana of the 1960s - a "toy camera" produced by the Great Wall Plastic Co.

The radiant color-dripping lens, soft-focus surprises, all-plastic body and simple shutter of the original Diana were expertly duplicated to provide the authentic look and feel for the Diana+. During development, the decision was made to add new features, namely pinhole photography facilities and the option for endless panorama shots. Keeping the same 75mm plastic lens design, this has two formats, the original 16 frame 4.2x4.2cm, and a 12-frames-per-film 5.2x5.2cm, and also adds a tripod socket and shutter lock. Many accessories have been produced for the new Diana, including an instant-film back, a pinhole lens, a hot shoe and lens converters for Close-Ups, 20mm Fisheye, 38mm Super-Wide, 55mm Wide-Angle and 110mm Telephoto.

There are several special editions, in various colours, some to commemorate events or tie-ins with particular retailers; these include:

History and technical features 

The Diana Mini Camera is a plastic box camera that utilizes 35mm film, and is a part of a long line of lomographic cameras known for taking photos vibrant in color with deep saturation and vignettes shot through a plastic lens. It is capable of taking 72 exposures per roll of film in "half-frame" mode and 36 exposures in "square" mode. It can also take multiple exposures. Modeled after the original Diana camera, the Diana Mini is one of many reproductions and re-imaginings of the Diana camera by the Austria-based company, Lomographische AG FN: FN 134784. The Diana Mini is one of several new production versions of the Diana camera currently available as the Diana+ series, produced by Lomography.

The Diana Mini 35mm Camera from Lomography is the ultra-compact, version of the Diana F+ camera. This plastic camera with a wide angle lens allows users to get in close or choose between any of four focal distances. It has exposure settings: 'Sunny', 'Cloudy', or 'B'. The Mini has two formats, 36 square pictures or 72 half-frame pictures on one roll of 35mm film. Plus, users can swap between formats on the same roll with the flick of a button. The Diana Mini, to enhance creative possibilities, is ready and able to create multiple exposures. With the Diana Mini long exposures are easy thanks to the 'B' setting, tripod mount and cable release attachment - a Diana first.

Specifications

The Diana Mini came about after the reincarnation of the original Diana camera, the Diana F+ Camera, released in 2007. The Diana Mini brought with it the ability of the photographer to choose between the half-frame format that allows the user to shoot twice the amount of exposures for any 35mm film roll, or the less common square format that allows for 24x24mm exposures to be shot on 35mm film.

Características

For a plastic camera, the Konstruktor has a very solid build. Unlike other camera kits I’ve seen, this one was designed with excellent attention to detail, particularly where moving parts like the lightbox and focal length adjustment on the lens are concerned. While most camera kits give you tips on estimating the film advance (e.g., “turn the dial one and a half times”), the Konstruktor has an actual frame counter which works rather accurately, assuming you remember to reset it when you load a new roll of film.
The vertical viewfinder will take some getting used to for photographers unfamiliar with them. For starters, everything is flipped horizontally 180 degrees. Right becomes left, left becomes right, and it’s going to take a brief adjustment period to get comfortable with it. Some photographers may also find it a bit restrictive in terms of shooting angles. While this type of viewfinder can be a bit frustrating at first, stick with it. You’ll be glad you did. While I’m on the subject of the viewfinder, I should also point out that the optional Magnifying Chimney Hood not only provides magnification, but also does a great job of shielding the viewfinder from the inevitable glare that makes getting a good look at the image difficult, particularly on a sunny day.
Since everything about this camera is manual, the mechanism for raising the mirror is no exception. Placed to the left side of the lens where you are probably used to finding the auto-focus switch on your DSLR, a small lever is used to lift the mirror into position after each shot. Don’t worry about forgetting– you won’t be able to see anything through the viewfinder if you don’t raise the mirror.
Don’t forget– 1/80 is a pretty slow shutter speed. I’m not going to say you can’t hand-hold this camera at 1/80, but you may want to take advantage of the standard tripod mounting hole on the bottom of the camera. I did laugh for a minute when I realized I had a $35 camera sitting on top of a $300 tripod, but you do what you gotta do.
